Team MKP dominates the first round of the WKA Manufactures Cup for the 2010 season, with wins and podiums in the following classes; Tag Masters, Yamaha Senior Can, Komet Piston Port, Komet Piston Port Jr, Komet Piston Port Sportsman and Cadet. The weather was cool for December but the racing was hot as could be. MKP team and support drivers set out to make a statement about the Birel Chassis line for 2010 and what a statement they made. “Daytona owes us a lot, we have been so close over the years and this year she gave us a little back. I could not be prouder of the accomplishment of the team, every single person under the tent made improvements, the atmosphere was so positive, and collectively we did what had to be done” according to Bill McLaughlin Sr. The team travels to South Bend for the second round in April where the Birel Chassis is always very strong.

Indianapolis, IN – For the third year in a row, Motorama Kart Parts was honored as the #1 dealer in North America for the World Champion Birel chassis line. At the recent dealer meetings, held in conjunction with the PRI Show, Garry Lobaugh and Roni Sala (of MRP/Birel America and Birel SPA, respectively) presented the award to the Indianapolis, Indiana based shop. Upon accepting the award on-behalf of MKP, co-owner Shannon Parks stated, “Keeping sales strong in this economy is a challenge. We have a strong team at MKP, who are responsible for the success of the shop. Another key to our growth this year was the surge in popularity of the Rotax program and adding MKP as an authorized service center for that engine package.” “As a result of three strong years leading the Birel market, MKP has had to expand into larger shops over the past year,” added co-owner Bill McLaughlin. “First we moved to a 3,700 square foot facility and now into an 8,000 square foot building that we share with McLaughlin Motorsports F1000 team. This has given us even greater resources and depth to continue leading the Birel brand.” MKP earned the #1 dealer award for the first time in 2007 thanks to a strong business plan that focused solely on building the Birel brand in the highly competitive central Indiana karting market. Via a combination of Birel and Monza race chassis sales, strong customer parts support, and sales/maintenance of a Birel ROK concession kart fleets MKP lead the MRP dealer network for the third year in a row. Motorama Kart Parts is located in Indianapolis, IN (off Executive Dr., near the old Indianapolis Airport terminal). MKP sells and services a complete line of Birel and Monza chassis, has in-house engine development and maintenance, and fields teams in the WKA Manufacturer’s Cup series, the Florida Winter Tour, and a variety of series and special events around the mid-west. Concord, NC -Team MKP rolled into Lowe's Motor Speedway for the final event of the 2009 WKA Manufacturer's Cup weekend and what's rumored to be the final event on the kart track at the famed Speedway. Not only was the event a chance for Team MKP to clinch a couple of WKA Manufacturer's Cup Class Championships, but it was also the WKA Grand Nationals and chassis maker, Birel, was leading the points in hopes of winning their second straight Manufacturer's Cup. Bennett would finish Cadet on Sunday 2nd, and also secure podiums in Yamaha Sportsman Heavy & Lite. Team MKP Junior Sportsman hot-shoe, James Bennett of Wisconsin, won the Cadet final on Saturday and thus the team's only "Eagle" (Grand National Trophy) of the weekend. Bennett would also secure his second straight HPV Junior Sportsman title with a 2nd place finish on Sunday. Bennett has a lot of confidence on the strength of his back-to-back titles and Cadet Grand National win as he makes the transition to Junior 2 in 2010. Any spot in the top five would secure the TAG Masters Championship for Team MKP's John Dixon who came into the event on the strength of 3 wins and a Divisional Championship (points transfer). Dixon struggled most of weekend overcoming handling issues, but the reliability of his Rotax powerplant and consistent driving garnered him a 4th place finish in the final and secured the class's first ever Championship trophy. Other notable finishes for the weekend include: Mike Burrell: 7th Tag Masters, 5th Yamaha Masters (finishing 2nd in points for the class) Collin Campbell: 14th HPV Sportsman, 9th Cadet 1, 16th Yamaha Sportsman, 11th Cadet 2 Morgan Fisher: 21st HPV Jr. Lite, 22nd Yamaha Jr. Heavy, 27th HPV Jr. Heavy, 19th Yamaha Jr. Lite Garrett Madison: 17th Cadet 1, 22nd Cadet 2 Morgan Nelson: 19th HPV Jr. Heavy, 25th HPV Jr. Lite Austin Osborne: 11th Cadet 1, 5th Cadet 2 Austin Self: 5th HPV Jr. Heavy, 11th Yamaha Jr. Lite, 13th HPV Junior Lite, 5th Yamaha Jr. Heavy Team MKP will enjoy a very short off-season and the Holidays at home before heading to Daytona International Speedway for the first round of the 2010 WKA Manufacturer's Cup beginning December 27th.
