Team MKP has Good Showing at MRP Man Cup Round PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 08 May 2009 01:56

South Bend, IN -Team MKP had a respectable showing overall at the MRP South Bend round of the WKA Manufacturer's Cup series.  Team members scored many podiums and overcame some trying circumstances at the May 1-3 event.

MKP TAG Masters driver John Dixon scored the Team's only victory of the weekend in his Birel R32-MKPower Rotax.  Dixon won both the Pre-Final and Final in convincing fashion.  Dixon would also score a third on Sunday in Yamaha Masters.

In Saturday's Cadet final both James Bennett and Austin Osborne earned slots on the podium in 3rd and 4th, respectively.  TAG 1 on Saturday landed Evan Batt (Birel R31-MKPower Rotax) in 9th after a hard fought battle starting from a 16th qualifying position.  Batt's luck would not change on Sunday as Rotax drivers would be given a 15lbs. penalty and a crash in the pre-final would see his start in the mid-20's and only be able to work up to 11th.

Bill McLaughlin would get his second straight Man Cup 4th place finish in HPV Lite; he would just miss the podium on Sunday with a 6th in HPV Heavy. Mike Burrell would also earn 4th in Yamaha Masters for Team MKP after the race was red flagged for an accident involving new Team MKP driver Dale Roller.  Although suffering a neck injury that required surgery, Roller is expected to make a full recovery.

In other junior races, Team MKP drivers Jackson Mears (10th in HPV Jr. Lite), Morgan Nelson, and Morgan Fisher each had respectable showings. The courage award of the weekend went to Austin Self who had a cast removed from his left leg a day before the official practice began.  Self soldiered home with some top ten finishes.

The next race for Team MKP will be the Great Lakes Sprint Series event at Circleville Raceway on May 23 & 24th.  For more information on joining Team MKP, contact the shop at 317-858-8888 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Team MKP Scores 6 Wins at WKA GLSS @ MRP PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 27 April 2009 00:47

North Liberty, IN -On Team MKP's debut weekend in the WKA Regional Great Lakes Sprint Series, the Birel drivers won six feature events, scored a number of additional podium, and top ten finishes.  Team MKP did well in both the 80 degree and sunny weather on Saturday and in the wet and cooler conditions on Sunday at the MRP South Bend track!

Collin Campbell got things started for Team MKP with a win in Cadet Sportsman.  Campbell shared the front row with teammate Austin Osborne and it looked like a 1-2 finish would be coming for MKP until Osborne's engine quit three laps from the end.  However, on Sunday in the wet Osborne would be redeemed and take the Cadet win, giving Team MKP a sweep of Cadet for the weekend.

After being punted from the pre-final lead, Mike Burrell started the Yamaha Masters final in sixth.  With a lap to go in the feature, Burrell passed the leader going into the first corner and held on for the win.  Rounding out a Masters sweep was John Dixon taking the victory points in TAG Masters for MKP.  Also scoring "for the old guys", was Mike Hayes in 4cycle Super Heavy.

The other winner from the MKP camp was one of the newest team members, Chase Jones winning in Yamaha Sportsman Heavy (and running 2nd in Yamaha Sportsman Light).  Jones ran strong on the track in both classes, holding off challenges from much more experienced drivers and keeping the leader in sight in both races.  However, the eventual winner of both classes refused technical inspection moving Jones up to the win in Heavy and 2nd in Light, a great debut for the new Team MKP driver.

Evan Batt made his debut for Team MKP in TAG with a 2nd place finish.  Morgan Nelson and Jackson Mears both had strong runs in HPV Jr., and Morgan Fisher scored herself a podium finish with a 2nd in Rotax Jr.

The next event for Team MKP is the WKA Manufacturer's Cup race also at MRP South Bend.  For more information on joining Team MKP, call 317-858-8888 or email  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Brownsburg, IN – For the second year in a row, Motorama Kart Parts was honored as the #1 dealer in North America for the World Champion Birel chassis line. At the recent dealer meetings, held in conjunction with the PRI Show, Garry Lobaugh and Roni Sala (of MRP/Birel America and Birel SPA, respectively) presented the award to the Mooresville, Indiana based shop. Upon accepting the award on-behalf of MKP, co-owner Shannon Parks stated, “Keeping sales strong in this economy is a challenge. We have a strong team at MKP, in both owners and employees, who are responsible for the success of the shop.”

MKP earned the #1 dealer award for the first time in 2007 thanks to a strong business plan that focused solely on building the Birel brand in the highly competitive central Indiana karting market. Via a combination of Birel and Monza race chassis sales, strong customer parts support, and sales/maintenance of a Birel ROK concession kart fleets MKP lead the MRP dealer network for the second year in a row.

Motorama Kart Parts is located in Brownsburg, IN (about 20 minutes Northwest of Indianapolis Inter. Airport). MKP sells and services a complete line of Birel and Monza chassis, has in-house engine development and maintenance, and fields teams in the WKA Manufacturer’s Cup series, the Florida Winter Tour, and a variety of series and special events around the mid-west. Brownsburg, IN- Motorama Kart Parts, North America’s #1 Birel chassis dealer, is proud to announce they are now a master dealer for Impact Race Product, racing’s leader in safety equipment.  MKP will have a full-line of helmets, gloves, shoes, neck collars and other equipment available from Impact.  Additionally, MKP will carry standard Impact karting suits plus be able to help customers in designing and ordering the new custom dye-sublimation suits like MKP drivers are beginning to wear.

“We’re very excited to be able to offer our customers what I’ve always considered to be the leader in safety: Impact,” states MKP co-owner Bill McLaughlin. “Bill Simpson has been an innovator and leader in this industry for decades. Everything is very well tested, and you can trust their quality since it’s made here in the USA.”

“MKP is only a few miles from the Impact factory, so our response time for customers should be excellent,” continues one of MKP’s other co-owners Shannon Parks.  “At the races, we’ll carry visors, some gloves, neck collars, and some of the items commonly used and forgotten on race weekends.”

At the PRI show, Impact officially debuted their new dye-sublimation custom karting suit that allows anything to be printed onto the suit with zero embroidery.  MKP was one of the first teams to explore using the new-suit technology, this constant innovation and Impact’s commitment to karting are two of major reasons MKP became an Impact dealer.

“We are excited about working with the MKP team, they have a great national program and a great staff,” stated Chris Wheeler, manager of Impact Racing’s karting program. “We have worked hard to prepare for the 2009 season and beyond and I don't think that we could have choosen a better group to team up with to help showcase our equipment at the track.”
